Here comes that annual celebration of one of those most prized New York City assets, the Streets! Spanning nearly seven miles of streets within Manhattan the closed off streets will be we made up of Park Avenue, the traverse around Grand Central Terminal as well as other streets along towards the Brooklyn Bridge. New York natives and tourists will all enjoy these series of of opened streets for playing, walking, biking and most importantly? For breathing freely. Yours truly was one of the quarter million participants who took part in previous years. It’s really quite something not merely for sports enthusiasts but as well for us photographers. Imagine being able to literally stroll down the middle of streets with your camera in tow.

Running from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, Summer Streets extends from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park, along Park Avenue and connecting streets, with easy access from all points in New York City, allowing participants to plan a trip as long or short as they wish. All activities at Summer Streets are free of charge, and designed for people of all ages and ability levels to share the streets respectfully.

Summer Streets is a project of theĀ New York City Department of Transportation.
